ICS Insights: Gaining Enterprise Resiliency and Integration

Most organizations are comprised of component parts that operate individually as an ecosystem with unique functions.  The main core of components includes; Human Resources, Finance and Legal that build a base for the structure.  While culture plays an influence on the organization, it’s largely the Core Operational Areas and related component parts that protect the organizational structure and daily operations from emergencies and disasters.

The focus of this discussion is identifying the ‘protection layer’ that should be integrated and strengthened to help the organization recover as rapidly as possible.  Begin thinking about Business Continuity, Emergency Management, Security, Records, Safety, Health, IT Disaster Recovery and others as an ‘Integration Team’ that work together when the chips are down.  With the complexities of our corporate or agency ecosystems, no single department or division in an organization can afford to go it alone.

By developing and building an Integration Team the odds of recovery in time for it to matter increase exponentially.  It is time to be a ‘silo-buster’ and bring your teams or groups together to build an integrated functionality for your organization.
