Explosion at Entwistle facility halts operations

Pinnacle Renewable Energy (Pinnacle) has announced that its wood pellet facility in Entwistle, Alberta has had to temporarily stop production due to a fire.

Pinnacle reports that a fire broke out at around 2pm yesterday and caused damage to part of the facility.

Pinnacle also reports that one employee had to be sent to hospital and that several other employees sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident. Employees with minor injuries were treated on site.

The emergency services were notified immediately and were at the facility promptly to extinguish the fire and to treat injured employees.

The cause of the fire is still unknown however Pinnacle senior management and local authorities are launching an investigation.
