Energy: what are the big changes?

Energy: what are the big changes?

The traditional model, which has been in force for more than a century globally, is backed by the transfer of the costs of expanding the infrastructure of the electricity sector to regulated tariffs.

Along the same lines, official programs to reduce costs (and consequently tariffs) were aimed at delaying or even eliminating the expansion of supply by encouraging customers to deploy local generation, develop energy efficiency actions, and even participate in demand response programs.

The current trend of the countries leading initiatives in this area, is centered on "non-wire-alternatives" (NWA). The big difference is in the combination of interests of customers, energy demanders, and suppliers (generation, transmission and distribution).

NWA is a new, win-win opportunity. The business model shifted from the classic regulated, to the competitive format. Now what really counts is the creativity, the initiative, the "drive" to make it happen!
