Podcast Interview with: Vinton Cerf, co-father of the Internet & Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist at Google

Lee Krevat, Alaska, 2016

Super excited about Episode 40 of #TheClimateChampions, featuring Vint Cerf.

In addition to being considered the co-father of the Internet and Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist at Google, he was presented the US National Medal of Technology by President Bill Clinton, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George Bush. He also co-founded the Internet Society and served as president of ICANN, the operator of the domain naming system.

We talk a lot about the usual, climate change, energy storage, renewable energy, etc., but also about the Internet, IoT, my first company, Tandem Computers (now Hewlett Packard Enterprise), and my favorite moment of the interview, Al Gore's role in Internet history.

I agree! Vint Cerf is a huge get. I'm not surprised it took Lee a few minutes just to introduce him! Well done on putting this together. An informative listen, for sure.

Great podcast Lee.  Thanks for sharing with the community.  I agree with one of the comments Vinton made that being more Energy Efficient and reducing our consumption is key.  With our upcoming issue on Energy Efficiency we will be sharing, with the community, what some utilities and solution providers are doing to help with Energy Efficiency.  The issue will be published on October 30th, so keep an eye out.

Agreed on the quality of the content in this podcast. I am a huge fan of Vint Cerf and value his insight here on climate change. I appreciate Vint's humility in giving Al Gore such attention for his critical work in climate change and raising the volume of dangers dating back to the 1980s. A quality discussion that everyone should consider listening.

I knew Vint from my work on the IETF, but I was not aware of his position on climate change. Thanks, Lee - very well done.
