Here's a surprise. Tesla gets all the press for electric cars but consumers seem to prefer the Nissan Leaf, which was first released in 2010. According to Germany's Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW), Nissan Leaf has sold more than 360,000 units until 2018. Tesla's Model s, which was released in 2012 has sold 240,000 units and is in second place. The post's writer says Nissan Leaf owes its popularity to the European market, where it is the most popular electric car. It is a big seller in Norway, one of the biggest markets for electric vehicles. Of course, price considerations are also an important factor here. The Tesla Model S sells for more than double the price of a Nissan Leaf. Norway has an extensive network of chargers, making it easier for EV owners to charge their cars on the go.
