The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) in Ontario runs their grid. Today, they're conducting a routine voltage reduction test. (They're planning a three percent reduction in the a.m. and a five percent in the p.m.) Why run these tests? To see if those reductions could work in an emergency situation, to flag equipment issues and to keep staff on their toes when it comes to voltage reduction procedures.
