'Earth Day' Inspired Commercial Energy Use Infographic and National Stores Case Study

It seems all the industry hype focuses on making homes more energy efficient (i.e. smart homes), while buildings are overlooked. Nationwide, buildings account for nearly half of CO2 emissions and out-consume both the industrial and transportation sectors. 'Smart buildings,' or those that implement energy management solutions/optimize for resource efficiency, have 34% lower CO2 emissions and consume 25% less energy.

With the proper energy management tools, buildings can have greater control over their energy consumption. In one example, National Stores, a retail chain with more than 360 locations across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, leveraged an energy management solution to curb usage and participate in demand response, reducing its energy bills by 25%.

The Energy Central Power Industry Network is based on one core idea - power industry professionals helping each other and advancing the industry by sharing and learning from each other.

We are always happy to have new members join us in that mission. If you have the knowledge to share, it is easy to post on Energy Central. Once your post is approved, it will be published on our website (with more than 100,000 users/month) and may also be published in one of our newsletters (which have between 10,000 and 60,000 circulation).

If you have an experience or insight to share or have learned something from a conference or seminar, your peers and colleagues on Energy Central want to hear about it. It's also easy to share a link to an article you've liked or an industry resource that you think would be helpful.
