By adopting digital technology, utilities will be able to cut $150 billion per annum from their operating costs, according to Wood Mackenzie market research. Yet, this area remains in a fledgling state. Why? Companies have struggled to embed and scale digital technology in their business processes. Many investment horizons are too short to test, validate and implement digital technologies in the conventional space. Digitalization is not a silver bullet.
