The transition to a low-carbon energy system has evolved through several phases, as renewables have dropped in price, attention has shifted to energy storage, and cities around the world have set admirable clean energy goals.
In a variety of cases, we've seen that all- or majority-renewable goals require a solid amount of distributed generation—like rooftop solar—in order to be realistically acheived.
