EDP Renewables sponsored a workshop to show area teachers ideas for incorporating wind energy into their curriculum. Seventeen teachers from across the county attended the seminar. Despite resistance from surrounding counties, wind farms are coming to the area and County Economic Development Director, Greg Beumer recognizes the importance of preparing local students for future jobs in renewable energy fields. “We are on the cusp of an important renaissance for Randolph County,” Beumer said. Educated workers will be crucial for phase II of the Headwaters Wind Farm EDP Project. Will their initiative produce the desired results? Can they fill the 45-50 local jobs at the wind farm set to begin construction next summer?
