Ronny Sandoval, Board Member, IREC & GWA, formerly Senior Director EDF - Episode 20

For Episode 20, my guest is Ronny Sandoval, Board Member of the Interstate Renewable Energy Council and also the GridWise Alliance. And until recently, and when we recorded this conversation, Senior Director at the Environmental Defense Fund, all excellent organizations! As Senior Director of Grid Modernization, Ronny Sandoval managed EDF’s national grid modernization efforts to drive investments that increase the efficiency of the electric system and enable the integration of renewables and other emerging sources of energy.

Ronny discusses some of EDF’s important work, such as their response to hurricane Maria’s devastation of Puerto Rico in 2017, where nearly 3,000 people lost their lives, as well as the ambitious and groundbreaking New York REV.

Ronny previously worked for ConEd in New York and saw the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy first hand. The experience inspired him into a new career where he could make a difference fighting climate change.
