Hopefully Trump will start to recognize that the renewable industries he is bashing are increasingly important to many of the states he needs to win in 2020.

Unfortunately I don't think his disparaging of renewables will be anything that upsets the reliable base he already has. Just see his speech that was (somewhat) on energy yesterday, and his framing that the position of his opponents to move away from fossil fuels should be used as an arguing point against them. We've a long way to go, unfortunately, before rejection of the energy transition is actually a disqualifying factor

"Hopefully Trump will start to recognize that the renewable industries he is bashing are increasingly important to many of the states he needs to win in 2020."

You'll also find, Jack, that the only people who love wind turbines don't live near them.

"Developers who invested $11 million to install three wind turbines in eastern Iowa are tearing them down, after losing a legal battle waged by nearby residents.

'It's great. We love it,' said Cheyney Hershey, whose young family lives near the turbines. 'You can't sit outside on the deck and have a conversation without the constant thumping of the blades going round.'"

Trump will hit a nerve with a number of Iowans directly affected by the expansive land use of renewables, even if it is for a stupid reason. Wasn't it disaffected "deplorables" in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania who handed him his job in the first place?
