Solar and Methane Key to Australia’s Energy Plans
A plant, managed by the Northern Adelaide Waste Management Authority (NAWMA), will convert thermal energy from solar panels and methane gas from decomposed garbage into electricity for the South Australian grid. Gas produced from rotting garbage will act as the plant’s base-load power, and produce about 11,000 megawatt hours of electricity each year, enough to power about 1800 homes. The site’s 5000 square mile solar panel farm is expected to generate about 2000 megawatt hours of electricity each year, powering around 300 homes. How much interest does your firm have in hybrid generating plants?
