Really great program from ConEd that addresses energy efficiency and environmental justice all at once:
Con Edison has partnered with a charity to distribute 250,000 LED lightbulbs at food banks in the utility's New York City service area.
"We were really excited about the opportunity to be able to supply lightbulbs," said Camesha Grant, vice president for community connection with Food Bank for New York City, which has partnered with the utility on the project.
This is the second time ConEd has partnered with the food bank as part of the utility's residential energy efficiency program, which distributed 200,000 bulbs in 2018.
"ConEd has had a long history of energy efficiency," said Lisa DeVito, a section manager in the company's energy efficiency department, pointing to the rebates and incentives programs the utility provides for customers making efficiency upgrades.
