Deforestation: in Brazil does it occur or not?

Deforestation: in Brazil does it occur or not?

Institutions from developed countries, focused on the environment, have expressed that deforestation in the Amazon is worrying.

The Brazilian Government strongly denies it.

The increase of the agricultural frontier and the illegal sale of wood are in the headlines of the main media in Brazil and abroad.

Who to believe?

It would be interesting and convenient to show consistent and independently audited data so that one could assess what is actually happening. Or we will continue with a discussion of guesswork.

I guess my skeptical alarms go off and say that the Brazilian Government would potentially have a reason to lie about their position, but what would be the motivation by other countries to misrepresent what was happening in the Amazon?

Matt you are right! That's my own personal feeling as well.
