Wind project in southern Minnesota gets pushback
Southern Minnesota provides a case study in the running debate over the pros and cons of wind turbines. Local residents are fighting the proposed development of the Freeborn Wind Farm, partly over negative impacts attributed to an existing wind farm that has operated since 2011. Project developers, meanwhile, have decided to site some of the planned turbines across the state line in Iowa, and assert that concerns about adverse health effects lack a scientific basis, according to the Minneapolis StarTribune. With Minnesota being the nation's seventh-largest wind power producer, are you surprised that projects of this nature aren't slam dunks at this point? Are there lessons we aren't learning?
