Democratic presidential candidates discussed climate change last week. Some of the front runners - Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders - came out against fracking. Their concern for the environment is admirable but impractical. Besides the fact that a ban would adversely affect the US economy (as this article outlines), the candidates may also find it difficult to find Congressional approval for their ban. (They cannot impose it unilaterally).
