E Source Video Highlights What People Know (or Don't Know) About Energy

E Source Companies, LLC - 11.04.2011

Utility customers are often full of misinformation about energy and utility services. E Source used a "man on the street" interviewing technique with randomly selected people in its recently released PowerWalking 2011, the fifth installment in the popular video series that started in 2002.

This year's video includes questions about where electricity comes from and whether a day's worth of energy is worth more or less than a cup of coffee. E Source also asked people what they know about smart meters.

"These videos provide a fascinating view into the minds of regular utility customers, while at the same time showing some pretty hilarious answers to what we in the industry assume is common knowledge," says Bill LeBlanc, the interviewer and senior advisor to E Source. "It's easy to forget that not everyone knows what a kilowatt-hour is or even how much a pound of carbon dioxide weighs. This year, when I asked people what a fair price for electricity should be, I was surprised by how little they value something that they basically can't live without for five minutes."

In 2010, E Source released PowerTalking: Your Call Is Very Important to Us, a humorous video that portrays one customer's utility call center experience. PowerTalking and the PowerWalking series can be seen on the E Source website at www.esource.com/videos or the company's YouTube channel.
