E Source Launches Utility Website Design Center

E Source Companies, LLC - 10.20.2011

E Source recently launched a new interactive web-based resource to help utilities design and build highly functional and user-friendly websites. The E Source Utility Website Design Center is based on findings from the E Source Review of North American Electric and Gas Company Websites, a benchmarking study conducted every two years. The Utility Website Design Center includes findings from the most recent benchmarking study, design guides, and other resources.

“The web is constantly changing as new technology enables consumers to do more online. Companies need to make changes to keep up with their customers’ expectations,” says Stephanie Spalding, research manager at E Source. “That’s the main impetus for developing the Utility Website Design Center. We want to show utilities exactly what the best websites look like as well as specifics on how to excel and what pitfalls to avoid so they can make changes easily.”

The interactive site allows users to access more than 140 screenshots of the features that scored the highest, recommendations on do’s and don’ts for each feature, and a library of past benchmark studies going back to 2003. The Utility Website Design Center is available to members of the E Source E-Business Service.
