The Edison Electric Institute is the association of shareholder-owned electric companies. There members
generate approximately 79% of all of the electricity generated by electric utilities in the United States. Also,
there members distribute approximately 75% of all the electricity that is distributed to customers. EEI
provides a forum for individuals in the electric power industry to exchange ideas and experiences and to
communicate with a variety of audiences, including government. EEI acts as a representative for the
shareholder-owned electric power industry on subjects of public interest and facilitates the exchange of
information among its member company personnel.
