Detroit Edison (DTE) purchased new pulverized coal Low-NOx burners from DB Riley Power. The burners were equipped with a competitor’s igniter. Due to a variety of circumstances, ignition was unreliable. After months of failed attempts to improve ignition reliability, the burner manufacturer requested that COEN review the installation and make recommendations for upgrading or replacing the igniters.
