Hybrid Power for a Brazilian Community

Distributed Energy Systems was contracted by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), working on behalf of the U.S. Brazilian Renewable Energy Rural Electrification Project, to design and install a 50kW hybrid power system for Joanes, Brazil. Residents of Joanes had previously received costly, insufficient power from their local 1MW diesel plant. With favorable wind and sun conditions available, Distributed Energy Systems was able to provide a utility intertied system, incorporating wind and solar energy with a 228kWh battery.
