This case study describes the process Xcel Energy went through to develop 5.4 megawatts of wind energy in southwestern Minnesota with a new form of landowner investment by introducing a new turbine model, creating a new investment model that would allow community members to become shareholders without exposure to energy project development risks and interconnecting the turbines to the local distribution grid.
