Utility Analytics Institute Launches First-Ever Analytics Conference

Energy Central - 10.14.2011

The Utility Analytics Institute, a division of Energy Central, announces the launch of the Utility Analytics Institute Summit 2012, the utility industry's first conference devoted solely to the use of analytics. The Summit is being held on February 15 – 16, 2012, in Orlando, FL. The theme for the Summit is “Driving Business Value with Analytics.”

The Summit was created to address the needs of the underserved analytics community in the industry. The transformation of the grid poses news challenges and opportunities on the grid itself and as it extends to and supports customers. Reliability, efficiency, and customer care depend upon what managers do next. The Utility Analytics Institute Summit 2012 provides utility professionals an in-depth look at how analytics are transforming the industry in a unique peer-to-peer interactive setting, allowing participants to openly engage, ask questions, discuss challenges, and gain insight from industry experts.

“The Utility Analytics Institute Summit 2012 is the industry’s first ‘deep dive’ into how analytics processes and technologies are being deployed to drive value from the massive smart grid and smart metering investments that have been made over the last few years,” says Utility Analytics Institute chief Mike Smith.

Designed specifically for those who oversee grid and customer operations – including IT – at electric or electric/natural gas utilities, the summit provides a venue for attendees to:

• Meet, visualize and strategize via workshops and panels led by top industry players with decades of combined expertise. Topics range widely, from executive perspectives to grid analytics and customer analytics case studies, applications, and lessons learned. Session highlights include: The Current and Future State of Utility Analytics, Utility Analytics Best Practices, and individual solution-focused workshops.

• Network and build beneficial relationships throughout the conference.

• Learn best practices and formulate strategies to positively impact their utilities.

• Gain perspective from analytics leaders.

"Workshops will combine high-level strategy with hands-on tactics, and explore the many facets of today’s analytics issues and debates. Our primary goal is to ensure this conference offers cutting-edge, timely content for utility analytics professionals. We're in close coordination now with our colleagues and partners on the development and execution of this exciting event." Smith noted.
