AREVA T&D’s New BITRONICS M572 IED for Fast, Effective Electrical Measurements

Alstom Grid - 04.26.2006

AREVA T&D, a leading provider of products, systems and services to the electric transmission and distribution industry, today announced the launch of their BiTRONICS™ M572 monitoring and recording IED for dual line bus applications. The Company, which creates new references everyday, everywhere, designed the Intelligent Electronic Device to coincide with its consistent high quality, high performing global offer.

The BiTRONICS M572 dual line dual bus compact Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) effectively monitors electrical parameters for 2 full sets of 3-phase voltages and currents, tests and then records these anomalies. These events are referenced to a time standard, and with its multiple communication channels the M572 can serve this information to multiple sources instantly and simultaneously, all with the intent of preempting catastrophic events and meeting full user specific requirements.

The BiTRONICS M572 provides fast and precise electrical measurements, fault records, event records and trend logs. The monitoring of status inputs and the control of relay outputs can also be accommodated. This information and control can be provided to multiple clients or masters simultaneously through various protocols and multiple physical links.

“By covering two lines or feeders, the BiTRONICS M572 provides an economical solution for basic measurement to SCADA data, while also providing advanced recording and communications functions not found in simple measurement devices.” said Damien Tholomier, Automation Products Marketing Director, AREVA T&D’s Automation Business Unit. Indeed, AREVA T&D takes particular care of its customers by providing high quality service through all its activities.

The M572 is the latest offering in the BiTRONICS 70 Series Measurement System that includes two (IED) families, displays for mounting flexibility, imbedded firmware common to all IEDs of this series, and a suite of PC-based programs to facilitate implementation and operation, providing Clients with a fully comprehensive service.
