Boone Electric Cooperative (http://www.booneelectric.coop) has deployed a new outage map to its website, available at stormcenter.booneelectric.coop, providing access to real-time power outage information to the general public. The solution uses an interactive web map to provide easy access to information on the number of customers impacted in Boone’s service territory, along with drill-down capabilities to get details about individual outages or ZIP codes.
Boone’s Storm Center product is provided as a completely managed service, which makes the benefits of a fully supported outage map available without the major internal IT and infrastructure requirements typical of an on-premise installation. As a managed service, Boone has access to product updates on a regular basis with minimal involvement. The service also provides 24/7 availability and guaranteed scalability, making sure outage information is available to members in all circumstances, including blue sky days and high-traffic storm scenarios. “Boone Electric Cooperative places a high level of importance on customer service and an informed membership is one way to meet our goals,” said Ryan Euliss, Manager of Engineering and Technical Services. “Storm Center allows our members to have real-time access to our outage information via web and smart phone access. Our members can use this information to help them make decisions regarding their family’s comfort and safety in the event of a power outage.”
