Empresa Electrica Publica de Guayaquil, EP, EEPG, Selects Cooper Power Systems CYME Software to Improve Engineering Analysis and Planning

Cooper Power Systems - 01.26.2012

Empresa Eléctrica Pública de Guayaquil, EP, EEPG, the largest utility in Ecuador, has been using Cooper Power Systems CYME™ Power Engineering Analysis Software for Transmission Systems (PSAF) for more than a decade, and is now working actively to complete a project using CYME CYMDIST solution for distribution analysis.

Engineer Alberto Tama, CEO of EEPG, explained, “All their calculations for the whole 69 kV transmission system, as well as the analysis of the supply system of 138 kV and 230 kV, are performed using the PSAF (CYME 5.0 software) due to its exceptional performances.”

He also indicated, “We are in the middle of an ambitious process to use Cooper Power Systems CYME Distribution Analysis Software CYMDIST, combined with CYME CYMDIST Gateway interface solution, to be used for the integration with our enterprise GIS system for calculation of losses in our distribution network, location of capacitors, plan of growing, calculation of reliability index, etc.”

Engineer Tama stated, “We are very optimistic that the application of both programs will facilitate the operation of our system, the largest of Ecuador.”

Empresa Electrica Publica de Guayaquil, EEPG, also acquired several new CYME modules and software, including CYMGRD, from Cooper Power Systems, a subsidiary of Cooper industries plc (NYSE: CBE), to improve the utility’s power system engineering analysis capabilities of their grounding system as well as all their substations and generation power plants.

“This win represents an on-going endorsement of Cooper Power Systems CYME Distribution Analysis Software CYMDIST,” said Mark Thurman, president, Cooper Power Systems. “A ten-year relationship has established Cooper Power Systems as a trusted Smart Grid solutions provider. Empresa Eléctrica Pública de Guayaquil felt confident in the selection of our distribution analysis software knowing it would deliver on expectations to improve their power engineering analysis and planning.”
