Moxa Launches IEC 61850-3 Full Gigabit Ethernet Switches for High-bandwidth Substation Communication

Moxa Americas, Inc. - 03.05.2010

Moxa is pleased to introduce the PT-G7509 , the newest addition to our series of PowerTrans IEC 61850-3 substation switches. The PT-G7509 is a 9-port Full Gigabit Ethernet switch especially suited for high bandwidth applications found in substation automation. The PT-G7509 offers maximum performance and real-time video, voice, and data transmission via a highly flexible Gigabit port deployment. It comes equipped with 9 combo SFP ports and 9 fixed Gigabit TX ports. The SFP fiber modules make this Ethernet switch ideal for multi-mode, single-mode, and long haul applications.

As with all Moxa's PowerTrans products, the PT-G7509 is capable of protecting against electrical surges, EMI, and other critical threats in substation environments. The highest level of reliability and availability in substation communications is achieved by the high EMI immunity, -40 to 85°C operating temperature range, and the redundant features for complex and high voltage substations that our switches provide. The PT-G7509 complies with IEC 61850 GOOSE messaging performance was tested by KEMA, a well-respected laboratory that performs testing and certification for substations.

Moxa's PowerTrans series supports Turbo Ring™, which guarantees fast network fault recovery (less than 20 milliseconds) and standard STP or RSTP redundant protocols. Maximum uptime is enhanced by the use of dual redundant power supplies (24/48 VDC or 110/220 VDC/VAC).

IEEE 1588 PTP Enables Time Synchronization Moxa PowerTrans series are capable of running IEEE1588 Precision Time Protocol, makes it possible to synchronize network switches across large-scale distributed power grids to provide smooth power transmission and maintain power supply integrity across various systems.
