SAIC Provides Technical and Management Services for AEP Ohio gridSMART Demonstration Project

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), through its wholly owned subsidiary SAIC Energy, Environment & Infrastructure, LLC, is providing technical consulting and project management services for AEP Ohio's gridSMART® Demonstration Project in northeast central Ohio.

SAIC is providing on-site support and helping lead distribution reliability projects at AEP Ohio facilities in Columbus, OH. The three-year program involves implementation of a number of technologies, including approximately 131,000 advanced metering infrastructure smart meters, volt/volt-ampere reactive optimization on 17 circuits, and distribution automation circuit reconfiguration on 70 circuits. This multi-faceted Department of Energy demonstration project utilizes AEP Ohio’s many internal and external resources and has the potential to lead to state-wide implementation.

“We are happy to help AEP improve the effectiveness and efficiency of its processes to enable its customers use less energy and save money,” said SAIC Project Manager Jon Olenski.

AEP Ohio also recently won the 2012 Project of the Year award from Powergrid International as well as a national accolade for its gridSMART® program.
