Smart Analytics make smart utilities smarter

Black & Veatch - 01.23.2012

Black & Veatch announced today the launch of Smart Analytics. Smart Analytics is a set of information technology solutions that improve utility performance, reliability and service. It helps clients make better use of the data they receive from digital networks and devices.

“Smart Analytics are essential for reducing costs and enhancing reliability of electric, natural gas and water utility assets,” said Martin Travers, President of Black & Veatch’s Telecommunications Division. “Helping our clients gain maximum value from their investments is a top priority for us. We want to help our clients operate their facilities in the most sustainable manner.”

With Smart Analytics, clients will have better insights into their operations. They will be able to better monitor and diagnose operating conditions. This allows for faster and better decision-making to enhance reliability and efficiencies. It also allows utilities to better plan and forecast work.

The Smart Analytics solutions are a part of Black & Veatch’s comprehensive Smart Utility® suite of services. Smart Utility services are based on the company’s collective knowledge from working with electric, water, wastewater, natural gas and communications systems all over the world. Engineering News-Record has ranked Black & Veatch as number one in telecommunications design for the past two years. Black & Veatch was also the top ranked design company for power and among the top companies for water and wastewater design in 2011.

“We have decades of industry knowledge. We also have a proven ability to deploy complex technologies. This combination enables us to plan, design, implement and integrate solutions accurately and reliably to benefit our clients and their customers,” said Travers.

Editor’s Notes:

• The Utility Analytics Institute’s 2012 Annual Market Outlook & Forecast states that spending on utility analytics will grow by 39 percent per year through 2016. This growth will drive the amount of value utilities and their customers receive from investments in grid optimization, asset management and integration of renewable energy sources and electric vehicles with the electric grid.
