AMEC, the international project management and engineering company, has been awarded a contract to supply radiological, environmental and site characterisation support to the Sellafield nuclear site in Cumbria.
The three-year contract, the value of which has not been announced, will see AMEC providing specialist support to Sellafield's facilities characterisation programme and reinforces the company's determination to become the lead supplier of specialist environmental services to Sellafield Limited.
“Over the last five years AMEC has significantly expanded its consultancy capability in areas such as, radiological and environmental consultancy, waste technology and radiochemical characterisation to support UK and international nuclear decommissioning sites including Sellafield,” said Greg Willetts, Director of AMEC's Power & Process Europe Consultancy Business.
“This award, combined with existing frameworks contracts at Sellafield, is another component of the wide ranging services AMEC provides Sellafield Limited in support of their operations. Currently we have a local AMEC workforce of over 250 based in West Cumbria which we will continue to increase”.
