Mr. Powell spearheads BC Hydro's smart metering security, privacy and safety. The company gained recognition for helping protect the grid system against cyber attacks for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Under Mr. Powell's guidance, BC Hydro is rolling out one of North America’s most rapid smart grid deployments. His team earned the 2011 SC Magazine Canada Award for Security Program of the Year.

Mr. Palmquist has more than 30 years of experience in networked systems, ranging from Systems Network Architecture (SNA) in the 1980s with NCR to IP in the 1990s with Cisco Systems. Before joining Itron, he was the Senior Vice President of Product Management of a venture-backed security company specializing in Ethernet and IP communications security.
