Residential energy-efficiency videos often feature low- to no-cost efficiency tips for the home and can be viewed online, offered to customers in a DVD or VHS format, or both. The segments made to broadcast over the web tend to be brief and easily digestible, and they address a specific topic (programmable thermostats, for example). Previous research suggests that the target length for online videos should be five minutes or less -- the typical length of a person's attention span for online viewing. Videos in DVD and VHS formats are also typically broken into short, consumable segments, even if the segments are strung together so that they play one after the other. more...
