Echelon and Unitronics Partner to Expand Enterprise Energy Management Solutions in Spain

Echelon Corporation - 10.29.2009

Echelon Corporation (NASDAQ: ELON) announced today that Unitronics Comunicaciones, a leader in the Spanish IT and communications market, has become a reseller and integrator of Echelon’s LonWorks® technology in Spain. Unitronics will provide LonWorks networks-based building automation and enterprise energy management solutions for several key markets, including banks, service stations, retail chains, public lighting and homes.

By joining IT networks and control networks, Unitronics can provide easier control of energy consumption and optimization of installation and maintenance processes, and generate significant cost savings for building owners and managers.

Unitronics aims to be a leader among Spanish companies to integrate products and solutions based on this next generation building automation technology, including Echelon’s i.LON® SmartServer.

According to Manuel Nó, managing director, Unitronics, “The agreement with Echelon strengthens our position in the area of connected buildings. This will make us the first national IT company prepared for the integration of Echelon’s LonWorks technology and will enable us to offer our customers smart control solutions with impressive return on investment times.”

"We’re very pleased to be working with Unitronics to bring advanced energy efficiency solutions to the Spanish market,” said Anders Axelsson, Echelon’s senior vice-president of sales and marketing. “We believe that Unitronics’ integration strengths, coupled with their IT expertise, will deliver the full benefits of LonWorks networks to many companies in the form of greatly improved operating efficiencies whether in single sites or multi-site enterprises, reduced energy use and savings, and increased transparency.”
