Presented by: Spintelligent
Abuja Nigeria
The IPAD series of events (conferences and exhibitions) provide a forum for government and business to meet and explore opportunities for developing and investing in the infrastructure of the region.
The World Bank has aligned with the Nigerian government in its goal to become one of the top twenty economies by 2020. The private sector will drive growth in Africa and, to help it do so, governments should be promoting an enabling environment. This means listening to the private sector, lending directly to private interests and reforming legal and regulatory frameworks to strengthen governance and accountability.
It is in this context that the iPAD series comes to Nigeria in 2008. Focusing on interlinked infrastructure verticals, iPAD West Africa 2008 will unite government, development agencies, finance institutions, utilities, mining houses, transport, construction and telecommunications concerns at a single meeting in order to accelerate and stimulate investment in development of regional infrastructure, as well as the building of a valuable database of contacts.
iPAD West Africa incorporates the 5th West African Power Industry Convention (WAPIC) and the 1st West African Water Summit

Program Topics
Utilizing Customer Satisfaction Data to Define Objectives for Process and Performance Improvement
While there is an abundance of data available to most utilities to measure the satisfaction of its customers, there may be gaps in developing a strategy to integrate customer feedback into specific operational improvement objectives. In 2008, Arizona Public Service (APS) employed a strategy to “Raise the Bar” in improving upon customer expectations by specifically identifying areas that showed the greatest need for improvement according to our customers. In doing so, we defined improvement projects based on research with actionable project plans, both short and long-term objectives and measurable outcomes. This approach has demonstrated positive results and has provided a framework for how we will continue to determine future planning to improve customer satisfaction.
Pre-Conference Workshop Wednesday, December 3, 2008 - 1-5pm
How to Use Statistical Methods in Problem Solving
When we receive customer feedback, do we know how to use that information to improve customer satisfaction? Our companies have many measurable “touch points” with our customers, but even though we are drowning in information, we fail to understand what it is telling us.
By attending this workshop, we concentrate more on the use of information to understand what our customers are telling us, and what to do with that data to improve customer satisfaction. In it, participants learn to separate real statistical conclusions from the abundance of data that is not important, and then discuss how to use that information to find root causes of the problems to engage in meaningful goal-setting and measurable procedures to improve satisfaction.
This workshop concentrates on the process of problem-solving, and then we work on a problem that is of interest to the participants, and practice the problem-solving technique.
Dinner Workshop Thursday, December 4, 2008
How to Create & Implement Your Customer Measurement Strategy
Walker Information facilitates a highly interactive forum where utility market research advocates share and compare their customer measurement strategies. This roundtable discussion-style session is very conversational, addresses topics of interest to the group, and focuses on best practices in those areas.
Pre-Conference Activity: As a workshop participant, attendees complete a brief survey about your top customer measurement and business challenges. Customized for the utilities industry, this survey will take less 3-5 minutes to complete. It provides all conference participants preliminary industry benchmark information, and those who attend the workshop will benefit from more specific discussions. All results are be shared with the attendees at large, and it will be used to structure the dinner workshop session.
This dinner/roundtable format encourages participants to engage with each other as well as facilitators to specifically address each company's challenges in a collaborative environment.

With rising energy prices and worries about global warming, politicians, utilities and environmentalists are shifting their position on nuclear power and viewing it as a viable alternative to polluting coal-fired plants.
Additionally, there is a growing interest in expanding the use of nuclear power around the world to meet the rising demand for energy, especially in countries with developing economies such as India and China
With this renewed interest in nuclear power, we’ve identified a real need for an event that evaluates not just the current market status, but uncovers the future direction, potential demand, opportunities and threats.
The agenda for The Nuclear Power Congress is based on extensive, in-depth research with industry insiders. We’ll not only provide context for the current state of the industry, but explore their implications and present a blueprint for the renaissance in nuclear power.
We welcome you and look forward to seeing you in Florida in December.
