Low Temperatures Prompt Call for Infrastructure Upgrade
The calendar reads only January 8 but the Northeast has already experienced extreme winter weather, prompting Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA) President David Holt to call for energy infrastructure upgrades. While temperatures have dropped, the price for electricity in New England increased over 600 percent since December 1, from $32/megawatt on Dec. 1 and $210/megawatt today.
