Smart Water Meters Will Make Their Way to Walla Walla, Wash.
An interesting link not only because it shows the spread of smart water meters but also because it mentions the costs associated with such meters. Baltimore city was criticized for spending $13 million on refurbishing its water system infrastructure last year. The city ended up awarding $145 million for contracts relating to upgrading its water system infrastructure. A 2013 blogpost claimed that smart water meters are between 10 to 20 times as expensive as their analog counterpart. I wonder if there are ways to cut down on the expensive costs that installation of smart water meter systems entail.
