Getting the Grid Ready for Electric Transportation
The move away from gas to electric vehicles means that utilities will need to expand their service range. Technologies will be needed to ensure grid reliability and stability, and utilities will need to provide bidirectional Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). Utilities will need to actively manage and spread the load across infrastructure assets or else face costly infrastructure upgrades. Consequently, Navigant Research expects these firms to expend $700 million on such solutions by 2026. How much of an impact do you think electric vehicles will have on the grid? How much is your firm investing in such technologies?
