ISO New England Issues Power System Plan for New England
The operator of the New England power system and wholesale electricity markets has issued the biennial report that serves as the foundation for long-term system planning in New England. It's a fascinating look at power system needs through 2026 particuarly because there's been such rapid change within the ISO New England boundaries in recent years. For example, by the end of the current decade ending in 2020, nearly 4,800 megawatts of electric generating capacity will have retired. Nonetheless, adequate resource capacity is anticipated through 2021, much of it through new demand-side resources and new energy efficiency. How well stocked do you perceive New England's "power bar" to be, so to speak?
