America’s Last Nuclear Project Gets Green Light From Georgia
Construction on another 2,200 megawatts of electric generating capacity in the Southeast will continue. The Georgia Public Service Commission has voted to allow Southern Company to proceed with the building of two more reactors at the Plant Vogtle site in eastern Georgia. "The project represents the last, best hope for a nuclear renaissance that has failed to materialize in the U.S. following Japan’s Fukushima accident," according to this Bloomberg news report.
