Vancouver Island man shows off his solar house and his electricity savings
Vancouver Island resident makes an investment that immediately pays off. Stephen Gilbert paid $60,000 to install 148 solar panels on his property. The result has not only reduced his energy bill from $1200 to $12 but his set up is powering his home, 2 electric cars and sending a surplus back to the grid. Gilbert is happy to share power with his neighbors and hopes he can encourage more people to reduce their carbon footprint. However, research revealed going completely off-grid, in urban areas, may not be so easily attained.
