ABB Moves Clean Energy to Nova Scotia
ABB is deploying is a 500 megawatt (MW) high-voltage direct current (HVDC) connection that will enable renewable energy generated in Newfoundland and Labrador to be transmitted to Nova Scotia. The firm’s HVDC Light Maritime Link is a full Voltage Source Converter (VSC) bipolar solution designed to enhance system availability. Converter stations will be equipped with the ABB Ability based advanced MACH control and protection system which monitors, controls and protects the station technology and manages thousands of operations to ensure power reliability.
